Help with writing an entry
You don’t need the perfect words
This space isn’t about writing well.
It’s about saying what hasn’t been able to be said.
There’s no right way to do this.
You can be honest, messy, unsure — it all belongs here.
If you’re not sure where to start
You can begin with something simple:
-
“I’ve been thinking about you…”
-
“Something I wish you knew is…”
-
“Today I felt…”
-
“A memory I hold onto is…”
-
“I don’t know if I’ll ever get to say this, but…”
Just pick one and continue in your own words.
Writing to a child
You don’t have to explain everything.
You don’t have to justify anything.
You can simply be present in your words.
You might write things like:
-
What you love about them
-
Memories you hold
-
Things you wish you could share
-
What your life is like right now
-
How you’ve felt during time apart
Even small things matter more than you think.
It doesn’t have to be perfect
Your child won’t be looking for perfect sentences.
They’ll be looking for you.
They’ll feel:
-
your honesty
-
your care
-
your effort to reach them
That’s what stays.
If it feels difficult
That’s okay.
You can:
-
Write a few words and stop
-
Come back another day
-
Say “I don’t know what to write” — and start there
Even that is something real.
A gentle reminder
This space is yours.
There’s no pressure.
No judgement.
No expectation.
Just a place to leave something that matters.
